Biography
Elsa Djab Burchinow received her BA from Cornell University and her law degree from Georgetown University. Helping immigrants comes naturally to Elsa whose parents were the first Kalmyk-Mongols to immigrate to the United States in 1951. Her parents were stateless refugees and their dream was to come to the United States. They were proud to become citizens and for the first time in their lives were able to vote, sit on a jury and engage in peaceful demonstrations.
